Licensed Lactation Consultant

As a mother of three grown children, I recognize the importance of supporting mothers (and that's ALL mothers) as they navigate the rewarding, yet sometimes frustrating, journey called Motherhood.

I have been helping breastfeeding  mothers in the Augusta area since in 2004.  In 2008 I obtained my certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). In 2015 I led a team of nurses at Doctors Hospital in becoming the area's only Baby-Friendly Hospital.

My passion to extend help across the community led me to start my private practice, at first only offering hospital-grade breast pump rentals, as well as other breastfeeding supplies. Then, in 2018, after having moms continually ask "Can you come to my house and help me?", I added lactation consultations and breastfeeding classes to my list of services.

My goal is to support moms with not just knowledge and assistance with breastfeeding, but to do so with compassion in a non-judgmental manner.  Every mother is different, with varying goals and unique challenges, writing HER particular story as a mother.  Supporting, encouraging and EMPOWERING mother is my passion!

Over the years, mother, physicians and co-workers have given me many names. Some are downright hilarious: Madame of the Mammaries, Lactating Nurse (uh, not anymore) and Boob Whisperer. Then there are the made up names: Lactationer and Lactrician (huh?) In the end, the one that has stuck is The Breastfeeding Guru, which has a nice ring to it, don't you think?

I'm thrilled to have Semone join me - another Guru! I've known Semone for many years and I know she has the same passion as I do in helping our breastfeeding families.

Licensed Lactation Consultant

I am married with two children: a son and a daughter. I graduated from Augusta University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications in 2007.

My road to becoming a Lactation Consultant started after having my second child and working for WIC as a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor in 2016. While there, I became a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) in 2017. After deciding I wanted to pursue this field further, I went back to school and received a certificate for Human Lactation at Georgia Northwestern Technical
College in 2019.

While counseling skills continued to develop with mothers both prenatally and during the postpartum period at the WIC office, I was hired at Augusta University as a Lactation Specialist. I am able to work with moms in the immediate one to three days of delivery, as well as special cases, such as NICU babies.

In January 2021, I received my certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).  I work with various communities supporting moms on their breastfeeding journey.

I want to make an impact and difference for ALL mothers on their feeding journeys. Sally and I share a similar passion: I, too, am here to Encourage, Equip, and Edify YOU, mom. I want
you to know that I have your back, so give me a call and let me support you in this next stage of your life.
